Rotary in Bangladesh

Rotary came to this part of the world, then known as British India, through the charter of RC Dhaka in 1937-38. During 1947 to 1971, 6 more clubs were chartered yielding a total of 7 Rotary Clubs. After the independence of the country in 1971, Rotary has flourished in Bangladesh. Currently there are 171 clubs in Bangladesh with 5,063 Rotarians who work in many areas including eye camp, micro credit, improved sanitation, safe drinking water, child education, adult education, environmental remediation, disaster recovery, and vocational training.
